1. Community Needs Assessment – One Month
The fellowship begins with a virtual community needs assessment. Participants receive guidance and tools to examine their communities, identify pressing challenges and understand the needs of the people they intend to support.
2. Vision Planning and Project Development – 10 Days
Selected participants attend an intensive in-person training programme in the United States from 20–29 July 2027. The training includes workshops, speakers, facilitated group activities and practical sessions designed to help participants transform their ideas into actionable community projects.
The in-person programme will take place in New York City and Burlington, Vermont, with accommodation provided at New York University and Champlain College.
3. Project Implementation and Alumni Mentorship – 10 Months
After the in-person training, participants return to their communities to develop and work towards implementing their proposed projects. Each young leader is paired with an alumni mentor who provides guidance through quarterly virtual meetings and continued communication.
The fellowship therefore goes beyond leadership training by helping participants develop practical plans for addressing real community challenges.
